On the Mic Training in Vancouver, Canada, join our family of Optime users

On The Mic Training (OTM) was founded in 2007. OTM initially offered short voice-over skill workshops and part time classes, with the initiative to bring professional voice-over training to anyone interested in this facet of the entertainment industry.

Now, On The Mic Training has become the only voice-over specific school in North America, and the only one in the English speaking language to offer comprehensive government accredited diploma programmes in voice-over, in either a 6-month or year-long format.  Areas of training are extensive, covering Animation, Commercials, Narration, Audiobook Narration, Video Games, and Dubbing, to name just a few.  They also offer various part time opportunities, with flexible daytime and evening programmes.

With such an extensive, flexible and ad-hoc delivery program, OTM required a highly capable and flexible timetabling solution. They needed the capability to manage the utilisation of their specialist teaching resources, including studios, classrooms, remote and online workshops, as well as staff and trainers. They also required the flexibility to work across different time-zones, with operations in both Vancouver and Toronto.

Previously they have been using student enrolment data from the ‘Arlo’ training management system’ in conjunction with Microsoft Excel* to manage course timetables. However, as OTM has grown, and the complexity of teaching delivery has grown, this existing setup was proving inadequate to their needs.

After undertaking research of available solutions, On the Mic Training took the decision to Implement Optime. The EventMAP Optime suite of applications have the flexibility and power to accommodate their curriculum management needs. Optime also has the scalability to manage OTM’s growing needs as they continue to grow their service offering.
